Uh, this is supposed to be a split 7″ but it has been sent to me on CDR. That sucks. Send out the vinyl and the full packaging, not a little photocopied sheet and a cheap CDR. I am not impressed by that at all, pfft. I have a record player, you want a review, you should send me the real version of the record so as I can appreciate it how it was supposed to be heard and not in this fake digital format.
Lets see. Dudley Corporation, erm, This is a peculiar little indie rock jaunt entitled “Safety Shot”. They have multiple vocals harmonising or contrasting pleasantly over tuneful guitars. There is not a great deal to talk about here, it’s nice and inoffensive indie rock that will please people who enjoy the simple things in indie rock life. It bursts into life for a Superchunk-esque part at one point. Not too shabby overall.
Querelle I had heard previously on a split 12″ with the Wow and not been impressed at all. This is much different though as far as I can discern (or maybe my memory is not all that hot). A really good slice of Italian indie / post-rock (from experience, Italians are good at this kind of thing, see various reviews on this site of Italian bands I forget the name of). It rolls along nicely, with strong sung vocals and a little angular action. Reminds a touch of a cleaner Unwound. This is a really decent effort, and hints at the possibility of more good things to come.
Overall a nice split, ALTHOUGH YOU SHOULD HAVE SENT IT TO ME ON VINYL. Thanking you nicely!
