The Faint - Danse Macabre Remixes - LP (2003)

Labels: Astralwerks
Review by: Jane Arquet

So many people have tried – and failed – to make rock and dance music work together that it’s easy to forget that it CAN be done. admittedly, the strike rate is low but New Order mangaged it and for a time Primal Scream. It is Oakenfold – the Global Superstar DJ Brand – who has returned, alongside nine of his peers, to take The Faint’s wiry rock to new unexpected places.

”The Conductor” is took on and delivers a grinding slice of alienated future-pop. Strangley, Photek, a producer famous for his insanely detailed approach to beats, puts his name on the only stinker, ”Total Job”. The Calculators and Mojolators both re-tool ”Posed To Death”, the former attempting a synth-heavy, gangster hip-hop lope.

All in all I would say it is worth checking out!
