The Infarto, Scheisse! - s/t - CD (2005)

What a bloody racket. Italy’s Infarto, Scheisse! have at it with their ravening screamo/hardcore/metal mix, coming across like a mutated Funeral Diner that’s been pumped hard by Breather Resist and tearfully forced to let screamy sensibilities mingle with brawnier elements than they’d really like.

There’s a real maniac edge at work here, slicing away with riffs like serrated blades, a merciless drum onslaught that brings Aclys (remember them? Probably not…) to mind and a mangled approach to vocals that should have listeners placing bets as to which glistening organ will pop first. That’s not to say, however, that it’s all blood, rage and bile – these guys sure aren’t averse to quitting with the noisy shit once in a while, letting the shrieks drop away Envy-style and those sexy Italian accents shine on through, lightening the mood momentarily before something explodes and the whole thing goes up in flames once more. It’s not, of course, unduly original, but there’s a rare ferocity at work that drives the music forward and allows the Infarto, Scheisse! to accomplish what relatively few Euros walking this line seem capable of doing: not just making a mark but leaving a fucking dent with it.
