The (International) Noise Conspiracy - Survival Sickness - CD (2000)

Labels: Burning Heart
Review by: Nadia Almashoor

It had nothing to do with “ex-members-of”. (of Refused and Doughnuts, by the way.) It had nothing to do with labels. Nor fanzines nor MP3s or whatnots. It was all due to late night music television. A quintet of modsters in grey suits in a white room (from what I can recall anyways…it’s been a while.) rocking out to ‘Smash It Up’. Whoa. I sat up. Eyebrows raised. I like this band.

Next thing, this cd was purchased in a “normal” record store. (So, I hear ‘Smash It Up’ is a top radio hit. Cool.) And then, I learn this is the sophomore album from the Swedish kids. (Where’ve I been?) It satiates. 12 very upbeat tracks sounding like late 60’s rock and roll along the lines of The Who. And lots of political leanings. And that’s about all there is to it really. Maybe some people won’t dig it. But I do.
