The final 7″ from one of the more respected, maybe defining UK hardcore bands of recent times. This band, for better or worse, holds a lot of the responsibility for the current popularity of this style in the UK right now, and I’ll miss them.
So what we have here are the final 4 songs they are releasing and continuing on from the first record they are amazing. The guitars are nicely layered and played out and, despite the fact I was never a massive fan of Ian’s vocals as far back as In the Clear it finally seems to be working for me, and rather than being just another dumb youth crew record there are some nice subtle touches musically, particularly in the guitars where the two instruments are put to good effect rather than both just raging trying to be heard over the other. There is the straight rythym set by a more melodic but darker sounding line similar to later Turning Point I guess, which is great, a lot of bands would love to be able to make people think of later Turning Point.
If you haven’t pre-ordered and received this CDR then do yourself a favour and get the 7″, even if you are not usually into this sort of thing as most of you won’t be I really suggest you give it a chance.
