I thrashed the century with this 3″ cd. I survived the beginning of nothing with this 3″ cd. I voted this as raaa-cord of the millenium. So apparently this might sound like a very biased review. The Locust are the best band in the entire world blah blah blah.
But what exactly makes them the best? Creativity. Not only are they able to create ‘songs’ under 30 seconds, they make them sound good too. Integrating metal with electronics yet not sounding overly spastic nor crazy. It’s crazy alright but it’s something you can tap your foot too. Move around. Swing your shoulders a bit. All the tracks have the distinct ‘locust sound’ but yet each well crafted on its own. Ranging from chunky bass lines to emphasis of the Roland Juno keyboards. Plus the abstract song titles and lyrics. All of these which beautifully merge and bring them on a higher level. (No I did not take drugs when I wrote this. Or maybe.)
Now for the bonus. There is a marvellous secret track. You know how secret tracks are always at the end of the record? Well this one is at the start. When track 1 is playing, hit the rewind button until it goes to minus 1:29 and let go. You’ll hear this totally whacked up track remixed by DJ Kid 606. Mental.
Note: This cd contains all tracks from the s/t 12″, 4 from the s/t 7″ and an unreleased track. 20 songs in total under 19 minutes. Pure. Magnificent. Art.
