This is a UK band that are from somewhere, I am not quite sure where. And this is a
3 track demo CDR that I believe is a bit old or they are not entirely happy with it
nowadays. Something like that, or maybe not, I could be mixing them up with someone
else. I get confused. Anyway, we have here 3 tunes of rumbling and melodic
post-hardcore / indie rock that is not too dissimilar to the earlier stuff by that
band from Kent, Rydell. The rhythms and urgency will probably see them compared to
Braid on flyers, though that’s a tad unfair because you can’t really compare a band
that hasn’t done a proper release to a band like Braid. The vocals are sort of
shouted and aren’t particularly in tune with the music, but they work well. The
second track is an elongated instrumental that sounds like it is going to explode
into singing all of a sudden, but you know it’s not going to because it’s called
“instrumental”. Bit of a give away folks! After that we get another one with vocals
that starts off in a nice jangly fashion before kicking it up a notch. Boom! It
rocks along passionately with nicely yelled vocals that I would unfairly say were in
that Rites of Spring style. I am sorry to the band for saying that.
So this is quite fine overall, the third track is especially impressive. Definitely
a good start anyway.
