More impish blips, fizzles and farts from the Mae Shi, sticking to the only formula they seem to have, which is either none at all or so broad in scope that you need to view it from space to comprehend. They’ll be funking it up for a moment with superb minute-long jigs (as in born for a short time) only to shred any semblance of structure the next with discombobulated snarks of wiry guitars and nasal vocal screeches or puttering electronic squelches, hopping from idea to idea with the kind of disjointed energy that can be hard to keep up with. Fans of kindred spirits Rapider than Horsepower will already be clued into what the Mae Shi have to offer, but now its about time friends of Deerhoof, Fat Day and Men’s Recovery Project started queuing up at the door for a piece of the party.
