Ok, i was recently informed a member of this band was in Poison The Well, which seems very odd given that this 7″ is the very antithesis of that type of ‘hardcore’. Ten or so ultra fast, thrashy, deliberately obnoxious songs with very specific targets for its bile (one ends with the phrase “fuck you Atreyu” being spat out) which I consider quite admirable, especially in the current climate of ultra conservative metal bands posing as ‘hardcore’. The cd version also contains a short live set with various bad jokes being made at the expense of the crowd (“how many hardcore kids does it take to change a lightbulb? 80, one to change it but 79 have to be on the guestlist!”) as well as a quite pointed attack on people who use words like ‘faggot’ in day to day language (it was apparently recorded at a Throwdown show…)
The songs themselves, in the musical sense, are actually great in their own right though, not exactly Radiohead but filled with plenty of passion and punk rock goodness, though I’m not sure where there is to go with it beyond this, but then i get that feeling a lot with bands and usually end up being surprised…
All in all, recommended.
