“Baby Daddy” is a great cut, it’s breaks are hard and cut up in an Akufen style, so it’s only fair that Akufen turns up to mix the track.
“Baby Daddy” has some crazy beats, it’s one of those jerky house records, but it’s more macro than micro. This is the kind of record that I always want DJs to spin when all they do is play the same fucking Blackstrobe tune every week. Akufen’s re-working is alright, he brings it down a peg, bringing more instrumentation into the song via a chill pill. It ends up being less effective than the Rip Off Artist’s original, maybe he’s trying to make his friend look good.
“Baby Frankenstein” is more like it, it’s beats pound away over the acid-funk break and it all gels into a proper tune ideal for party-dancing.
