Labels: Snuffy Smile

The Urch are probably the best band on the Smile right now, and this here is two more songs from them. “0 to 100” is as good as any of the tracks from the cool album they put out, being galloping melodic punk rock with energy bursting from every seam. A cleaner Dillinger 4 would be a fair comparison, mixed up with a spot of Blew, which is no surprise as the bassist here is a Blew ex-member. Other tune is “Pretty Vacant 1998” which is more of the same, highly catchy and toe-tapping pop punk though perhaps a little less impressive overall.
Strange fact here is that it’s one sided, even though there are grooves on side 2. What happened there? Is this a split 7″ between the Urchin and a bunch minimal post rockers who’s music you can only hear when you turn the volume past 90? Well….
