A one-track promotional cd-r that lasts two and a half minutes? Now there’s an appropriate and proportionate use of the world’s resources. These Waking Eyes, whoever they are and wherever they’re from, play big, semi-trashy pop rock that’s practically dying to thrust its collective crotch into the face of all and sundry. They have that slick, pushy sound familiar to the glut of bands who floated to the surface in the wake of the Hives and the White Stripes and, on the limited evidence before me, do it slightly better than some but not nearly as well as others. Crap, basically.
