This is an intriguing little EP. 4 tracks, packaged in a lovely thick card cover. And the music is pretty quirksome.
The seem to deal in dischordant post-hardcore grooves and odd rhythms, reminding me a bit of Drill for Absentee, and perhaps that’s not so surprising seeing as both bands get compared to June of 44. Where Tintoretto stand out is through being a fair bit more agressive, with driving rock riffs and some really neat screamier vocals in places. Perhaps comparable to a band like Drive Like Jehu. “I Betray My Friends” will really have you shaking it down to the noisier sections, then they are capable of breaking into a downbeat jazzier part a la Karate in the blink of an eye, then fly off the handle back into those swirling guitars and frantic vox. “Are You Still Dying” reminds me of Month of Birthdays, all ominous and tense, building up under the surface. “Rifle Merit Badge” is the most Jehu like, frantic off-kilter rock, urgency, urgency! Finally, “I Miss You Miss Me Not” is back into the darker territory. Aye, it’s all good stuff and comes recommended to you by me.
