Transistor Transistor - s/t - 7

My room is weird. It just will not cool down. I have the windows open all day, and I slowly am toasted alive. The air is stale and sticky. I think I have created some kind of micro climate in here. And now my neighbour is listening to some dodgy 80’s rock band. I haven’t listened to music all day and he will probably be suspicious that I am now putting on music at the exact same time he is. Shit, it is too hot. I should do this review naked. Anyway.

Transistor Transistor is this band that I don’t know much about though it would help if I played the record at the right speed. Ok, we’re sorted. Right, Transistor Transistor is still this band I don’t know much about but it’s easier to describe them when you hear the music as it was intended. On here they play 3 tracks of rocking hardcore. It’s fast and has that sort of melodic edge to it that a lot of bands are doing these days. They fit in well with Level Plane, and that’s the label they are on now. Clever eh? It’s got some of the crunch of a band like Books Lie or Hail Mary, but with scratchy vocals that sometimes get all angry and shouty, and they throw in some of the more off-kiltery style too. One song has a big break down in the middle that is totally awesome. For the most part, the guitar sound mashes into a big ugly crunch, rather like like Shotmaker, particularly with the vocal element. Really cool. All power without sacrificing the ability to actually play the instrument.

Good 7″, get their LP too, these guys is quality! Though their name makes Alex think of a Don Martin 3 song.
