I saw part of Tsurubami’s set at the rescue rooms on the Acid Mothers Temple Collective tour a few weeks ago and I have to say they were my favourite of each group. Kawabata and co unearth four flowing and moving pieces which manage to be both noisy and dreamy at the same time. Each track is more of a krautrock styled freak out rather than your typical song based track. There is a definite undercurrent of melody in there almost in the same way as some space rock acts conjure up, but Tsurubami are no Stars Of The Lid!
If you were to skip to track three straight away you’d get quite a shock if you hadn’t heard Tsurubami or the Acid Mothers Temple before. It’s very much like a track lifted off the Geocentric World Of The Acid Mothers LP redone by Fushitsusha, i.e. it’s a fucking noisy mess.
I played this cd yesterday really quietly and it sounded amazing but listening to it now I have to say it is a bit too much for this time in the morning.
