Ha ha! This is awesome. I only bought it because the title of one of the songs was ‘Darth Bastard’ (well, also because I read who the record was actually by) which makes me giggle like a school girl. Now, I wouldn’t claim to know the first thing about dance music but this is the kind of dance music I could actually understand people listening to in their own home, rather than that cheesy club shite you can buy such as “BEST OF IBIZA BOLLOCKS SHAG SUMMER JULY 19TH 3AM (REMIXED BY PETER KNOBTWIDDLINGFUCKWIT WITH HELP FROM MAAAAAAAAAAAD DAVE COCK)”. Side A is ‘Darth Bastard’ and it has a bass heavy beat pummelling all the way through whilst the music is orchestral, along with a many voiced choir that explodes into action at various points. There’s lots of awesome orchestral brass and a consistent electronic pulse that just keeps it throbbing, pulsating and it’s just all out fun. I have no idea how you would dance to it (the only dance I know is the “fall over and touch up your friends whilst drunk”), but I am enjoying this a lot. I guess it’s that kind of super hip and fun dance music they have on TV shows like Spaced (think the A-Team remix! I once did Mike’s gun actions in a rock club when the A-Team song was played and nobody got the reference at the time and they thought I had gone nuts. Infidels).

‘Humbug!’ is on the flip and this is a more Christmas flavoured dance track. Sleigh bells and more throbs with overlaid “la la la la la la” vocals, ominous screamo keyboards, and more Star Wars-esque pompous orchestral nonsense. Fun as fuck! This is just ridiculously catchy and I had to nail myself into my chair to stop me from falling out and spazzing. Ace!

I love this! I guess it is actually very silly but it just makes me smile and if music makes you smile then there ain’t nothing wrong with. The guy who put this out actually made a dance LP earlier this year which isn’t quite as good as the stuff here, but is also worth tracking down. Anyways, I’ll leave the detective work to your goodselves if the above appeals to you in the slightest (some chance!), this is limited to about nine copies too. Merry Christmas!
