Labels: Them’s Good
Review by: Ian Cavell
This is just sooooo good. Just as Turtlehead graduated from being good (Back Stabbing”¦ album) to god damn fucking awesome (I preferred their earlier stuff LP), Vanilla Pod have released the perfect follow up to debut effort, Trigger. One cover, “You’re Just A’ , eight other melodic punk-rock gems and no token ska track. Sounds good to me.
Cranking in at a surprising 30 minutes, Faster Disco is an intensive blast of melodic punk which will leave you dumb struck. From the energy enthused sing a long, Pooh Bear, with its lovely melodic interludes and Snuff like “chugger-chugger’ guitars to the toe tappingly catchy “Once Was Home’, this is one fucking awesome album.
I have little doubt that when I get around to figuring out my favourate 10 albums of 1999 (probably round about next April), “Faster Disco’ will be up there for sure. I think the current crop of UK bands are going to have a tough job toppling this one.
Awesome, awesome, awesome.
