‘Trigger’. It’s on the THEM’S GOOD label – which has seen a handful of records pass under its roof by Norfolk’s other ‘well known’ noise outlet, Goober Patrol.

Vanilla Pod commit the heinous crime of playing pop-punk that exceeds the two and half minute barrier. They do other things differently too… I think these guys must listen to lots of metal when they are writing songs too, because they aren’t afraid of throwing some heavy riffs into the fray, as is the case with the superb track ‘Rebound’.

There are a handful of truly excellent tracks on ‘Trigger’ : the aforementioned ‘Rebound’, the hyper-melodic ‘Friendly’ which packs such a great chorus I’ve been singing it all week (yeah – sorry about that family) and the rocking ‘Dredger’ with its gradual build up and overall abundance of ‘tune’.

The whole album is just fantastic, not one ‘dud’ song and as debut efforts go – this is pretty damn impressive! They have a new mini album out soon which I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on.
