I was hoping V/S was going to offer up more of what was on that excellent “Moonglow” 7″ that I picked up last month, but it’s a return to his usual IDM without the I; nevertheless its still a cracker. So, it’s more of the same full-on gabba/hardcore/drill n bass work and its still earth-shattering stuff. The first track is a punk rock drum n bass number that hits you straight away with its erratic beats and deeper than death metal bass whereas the second is like Germs meets Blondie no-wave gone gabba shouting “where’s Bill” at the listener again and again. The b-side includes the stand-out piece “Americanized” which wouldn’t sound out of place pounding out at an anti-Bush rally. Although this long-haired Canadian releases lots of records that sound the same at least they progress and seem to get better every time, although I’d like to hear something fresh from him.
