More pissed of hardcore from the ‘no-one-at-c-zine-is-really-interested-bar-me’ niche of c-zine reviewing in which I have marked my own little corner recently, but still I feel I must persevere if only to offer a little balance.
This record is actually pretty great, melodic hardcore with cool Count Me Out-esque cracking with anger vocals, nothing wildly original but it’s easily one of the better records in this style that’s come out recently. It is also re-assuringly aggressive, there is a bit on the very last song where it breaks down to vocals and bass and the line “I’M SO FUCKING ANGRY!” is yelled, which far from the potentially Kevin The Teenager esque images that might be planted in your head actually somehow works, maybe because they really do sound ‘fucking angry’.
Another good point is that it never ever sounds like it was written to a formula, which far too much hardcore music in general these days seems to be, but if you like pissed off but still positive hardcore with a message of self improvement and empowerment, or would like to give it a go, then you can’t go far wrong with this…
