Vert - No Retreat, No Surrender - CD (2005)

Labels: self released
Review by: Gareth L

Sometimes I wonder whether people who send stuff into Collective actually know anything about the site, or whether it’s just on a list of addresses to where bands such as this send any old rubbish. This is a CD-R of a band that proudly proclaim in the accompanying press release that they have received ‘positive reviews with comparisons to Lostprophets and Incubus’. Uh, great.

Apparently the vocalist for this band used to be a music journalist. Surprising then that his lyrics are so uninspired and generic. As is the music, which sounds like an even worse version of Lostprophets with some of the obligatory mtvmo breakdowns and cliched electronica interludes, it’s just dire. Bad production, bad songs, bad bad bad.
