We Talked About Murder - s/t - CD (2001)

Labels: has anyone ever told you?
Review by: Ian Cavell

Choppy rock music, like a chance encounter between Fugazi and Small Brown Bike. That would be how I would clumsily attempt to summarise We Talked About Murder if I was ever accosted at knife point and, erm, forced to write a review or something (yes, it is getting harder to think of ways to start these).

Initially I was less than enamoured with this 6 track CDEP. It seemed to me that while the songs were good, they had a tendency to wash over me. Like the music had a rather aimless, ambling quality. After a few listens that notion hasn’t completely dissipated, but in the presence of good songs such as ‘Victimology’ it has at least subsided somewhat. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there are a couple of good tracks here that indicate to me that this band are on the right track, but nothing to get me overly excited.
