Invasion of the Casiotone-snatchers! What a cute lil’ box of happiness bundled up in a piece of wax that goes round at round at 33rpm. Yay!
So Winterbrief are based in Philadelphia and is Jan and Julian. Jan mostly dominating the vocals. Though Julian does a bit of back up here and there. Sounding very much like John Disco. And it’s just really catchy and punky and at times riot grrl-ish, Powerpuff Girls style.with lots of 80’s sounding beats. Bang Bang Bang! Pop!
And they do their rendition of Captain Beefheart’s ‘The Past Sure Is Tense’ (that is on the Captain Beefheart tribute.) which isn’t too bad at all.
Good after repeated listening and will definitely appeal to fans of Le Tigre, Huggy Bear, Black Cat #13 and Bis. Woo!
