Wolfie - Heavy Lady - 7

Labels: kittiridge
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is terrible. Title track “œHeavy Lady” is loafing, lo(ish) fi indie pop which moves too slowly, goes nowhere (apart from back in the record sleeve) and is not even vaguely catchy. The girl backing vocals are pretty sweet, but the guy vox are annoying. Not too sure who to compare it to. Maybe Wolf Colonel. Not even half as good as that. Argh. Two songs on the b-side and they don’t even come close to saving this. They all sound exactly the same. Too slack, too slow. No drive, no spirit. I think they’d be pretty popular with people who like Steve Lamacq’s Evening Session on radio 1, but this is just going to be buried at the back of one of my many boxes of 7″ singles, never to be played again until I can find out how to get rid of it to some bum. Oh boy, I can’t even make it to the end of this thing, and it plays on 45.
