Wrought: Ironsmile - This Is My song, This Is My Story - 7

This is a weird 7″. It doesn’t really sound like anyone much else. Elements of mid 90s emo in places, mixed in with a bit of fairly odd post hardcore rock. Vocals are emotionally sung in the main, but they shout too. Both songs are really rather long, which is good, but the production values let it down a little. “Neither Here Nor There” wanders between twinkly and light sections, and more gritty rock parts, and there’s not much singing at all. Several times you think the song has actually ended. It’s all very meandering, and a little unfulfilling. The b-side is more of the same, and it has this bit where the singer does shouting and it SERIOUSLY reminds me of another song, but I can’t for the life of me recall which band it is.

This isn’t bad at all, but it lacks the spark for me. Sorry.
