While these guys are certainly never in danger of pushing the boat out, you can’t deny the sheer enjoyment generated by their blasting stoner hardcore (something for which Shifty Records should win some sort of lifetime achievement award for supporting). Consular has a pretty much consistent, simplistic sound, whereby screamed vocals sit atop a blast of satisfyingly heavy riffs that really get the job done. Think of -16-‘s memorable slamming barre-chord riffs in the context of a less bloated Cavity, or a less scattered Eyehategod. It’s not as good as any of that lot but it’s still a righteous blast of foetid air
