Time was when things were post-Neurosis. Then it was post-Isis. With Omega Massif and their ilk, we’ve rather depressingly entered the post-Pelican phase, though it should be stated that Omega Massif still feel the need to crush, stomp and generally make a healthy (wordless) racket instead of trying to offload some waffly quiet shit on us. Opener “In Der Mine”” has a sweet sweet riff tying it together the melodic line unwinding slowly but surely before clinching it in a most satisfying manner before the repeat. It’s nothing new and rather simplistic but there’s no denying the muscular power this album at times possesses.”
