A brilliant debut album by an already brilliant band. Sorely underrated AmRep-obsessed tech-stoners Carrion called it a day way before their time, but switching bassists has created The Wayward, ostensibly the same band in terms of musical vision, but somehow more focussed, more wayward (hah!) and more goddamned musical. The furious twiddly guitar lines never detract from the sheer rocking momentum the songs, and it keeps going and going and going and it’s amazing. Imagine Faraquet with Ozzy on vocals and a rocket up their fannies.
