Saviours - Cavern Of Mind - 12

Labels: Kemado
Review by: Alex Deller

Much like Baroness, High On Fire and Mastodon, Saviours are one of a smattering of modernised “œproper” metal acts doing the rounds, combining rolling stoner riffs with squiggly, melodic NWOBHM leads and a slightly-buried Lemmyish rasp in an attempt to bring metal to the masses and have Long Beach scream once again. These two numbers are, somewhat cheekily, actually demo versions of tracks appearing on the band’s recent “˜Into Abaddon’ LP, solid, catchy and fun without ever really delivering too many truly crushing blows or weighing the listener down with untrammelled heaviosity. Nevertheless, Saviours have absolutely no trouble in getting heads a-bangin’ or fingers subconsciously flexing in anticipation of the air guitar workouts to come “” it just remains to be seen how much staying power they actually have.
