The Vichy Government - Whores in Taxis - CD (2005)

Labels: Filthy Little Angels
Review by: Graeme Cunningham

Choosing to name your band after toadying French Nazi collaborators is pretty weak. If you’re going to wade into such murky shit infested waters, surely much better to name your band “Aryan Thunderstick” or “Shemales of The SS” or something else cool and definitely not French.

Thing is, The Vichy Government aren’t remotely cool. There is no debate on that. Vichy clearly think they’re pretty clever though. Not clever enough to include a lyric sheet with their wordy electro pap though eh? Doesn’t matter how long you spent writing your polemic if you burry it so low in the mix no one can hear it. I swear they’ve lifted the music on this CD from their keyboard’s demo bank (on single finger mode). That’s pretty much it by the way, Crappy keyboard with some guy mumbling over the top. Hurrah. Popular music is saved. Thanks Guys!

This CD “Whores in Taxis” seems to be quite out of date, who knows why it took so long to get here. Or perhaps fifteen reviewers before me have tried and failed to put the utter pointlessness of this keech into words. There’s probably a third Vichy album by now, god help us. If only Id gotten to this review sooner, I might have been able to save more….
