Rather a change of tack here from Austin’s Hatred Surge, dispensing with their previous Despise You worship in favour of something more spacious and experimental along the lines of MitB, Walls or certain Iron Lung moments. ‘Servant’ lurches uneasily between plunging low notes, skin-flaying feedback, madcap drumming and mangled electronic screeches while ‘Bestial’ begins with a murmur and gradually builds itself a groaning bellyful of stop-start bile before ending somewhat abruptly and leaving a looming question mark over just what kind of murky terror Alex Hughes will choose to deliver next.
