Hammers - s/t - 7

Labels: self released
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Hammers from Manchester come out all guns blazing on their first release, joining the likes of Burning The Prospect in the UK d-beat pantheon. Compared to BTP’s epic sound, Hammers sound positively scruffy in comparison, but that suits them down to the ground as they have more of an Artimus Pyle-esque crazed thrash feel propelling it along. There’s a nice wayward layer of noise slathering it all, although that might be down to bits of the recycled mulch sleeve being deposited on the grooves. Get this, or the tape version on Hit Time that also comes with a bunch of other songs destined for other splits.
