Tortuga Bar - Narcotic Junk Food Revolution - CD (2009)

Labels: viersieben records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This German indie band trundles through this 12 track LP with few moments of inspiration. They even roped in Evan Dando for one song, and do a Lemonheads cover (“Don’t Tell Yourself It’s Ok”). It opens up with the indie dance floor blaze of “Likely to Be Dropped”. It’s nice and fast but ultimately sounds like a Foo Fighters off cut. The album trundles along from this point in an early 90s fashion. It’s a bit laboured, lacking in catchiness and standout factors. It’s OK, definitely OK, but I can’t really find a reason to listen to this again, I would stick on any number of other bands if I wanted to listen to this kind of music I’m afraid. Sorry guys.
