This is an utterly foul slab of digital metal, moving away from the scattershot, unsubtle hystericality of a band like Agoraphobic Nosebleed to create something truly noxious. Whourkr don’t use a drum machine simply because they can’t find a good drummer; they want to meld Suffocation to Venetian Snares, and it really is as horrendous as that sounds. Usually I can’t stand any genre mashup bullshit, but this really nails it, almost too much in fact, with the extremity reaching ridiculous levels at times. Crucial Blast, responsible for the similarly unlistenable Noism, has unsurprisingly picked up Whourkr’s next album for release.
