Labels: self released
Review by: Joe Callaghan
So, this appears to be a release without a label, yet it’s still nicely packaged in a very attractively illustrated “digipak” as they are called now. If financed off their own back, then that is a most commendable feat. If not, then I won’t take that credit away from them as effort and attention to detail has been taken somewhere along the way. So, this is radio rock – or at least the state of radio rock in the 21st century. You know what I mean. Guitar boy bands and the like. I can’t fault this though. It’s absurdly tight and boasts the kind of conventional song writing you’d expect to hear on, well… the radio! High pitched vibrato vocals and note perfect falsetto harmonies over the top of anthemic mid paced pop-punk inspired rock instrumentation. Major keys, massive riffs, more hooks than a boat full of pirates. It has it all. It’s all a bit to sugar-sweet for my tastes, but it’s clearly a strong starting point for any band wanting to “make it’, as it displays obvious competency for writing pop songs that appeal to those who just want sugar-sweet pop songs. If they’re not playing live sets between the OC and Popworld on T4 Sundays within the next 3 years, then I’ll “” well… I don’t know what I’ll do. But something will be a bit wrong.
