the Sleaze - s/t - 7

Labels: Fashionable Idiots
Review by: Andy Malcolm

The first time I put this seven on, I took it off again. This plays at 33rpm, surely. Then I tried it at 33rpm, and it was shit. So I put it back on at 45rpm, and I settled with that. The vocals are off the hook ridiculous and fucking annoying, which is all part of the charm. The Sleaze are a bunch of jerks playing neanderthal punk rock. This has pretty much no chords. The first song mostly consists of a guy with an incredibly squeeky voice saying “Smokin’ fuckin’ cigs” over and over again, whilst the guitar is abused and someone plays the drums pretty aimlessly. Utterly basic, moronic garage punk for imbeciles. I think this is super. The b-side is equally dumb, or at least I assume it is but I have no idea what he is squawking about this time, the song is called “Machine Hand”. There are several moments where it goes really fast and out of control. These moments are special.

Fashionable Idiots puts out records you should be listening to if you are a moron punk. The Sleaze are shit, but paradoxically good. Listen!
