Nodzzz - True to Life - 7

Labels: What’s Your Rupture?
Review by: Andy Malcolm

I am a little late to hop on board the Nodzzz hip train, but maybe you are even later and need a heads up. Nodzzz are pretty much the perfect indie / lo-fi / pop band, and this two song 7″ crams more goodness into 3 and a bit minutes than other bands manage in a couple of albums. “True to Life” opens up proceedings with an unfathomably catchy guitar line that repeats throughout the duration of the song, whilst the geeky vocals stumble along over the top. This song is the match of any of the 2 minute wonders on their LP. Over on the flip is “Good Times Crowd”, while not as ridiculously catchy, still rolls along at a slower pace and brings all the elements you want from this band. Regardless, you are probably never going to get round to playing that song as once “True to Life” finishes, you’ll be sticking the needle right back at the start again.

If you haven’t arrived at Nodzzz yet and you enjoy stuff like Teenage Cool Kids, then what on earth are you waiting for? If you have, then you’ve probably downloaded this already off some shitty blog. This sounds a billion times better on vinyl than the MP3 version I nobbled to save me having to rip it. MP3 generation don’t know what they’re missing. Catch them on tour in Europe in August / September!
