Labels: It’s Trash!
Review by: Oli Saunders
Steve from Me And Goliath recommended these guys to me a while back. He saw them live in Belgium and said they were pretty damn good live. So I picked up their demo and have now got round to listening to it. Three tracks of melodic screamo / neo crust. I say neo crust without really knowing it’s exact definition, I’ve just seen recently that bands like Alpinist and November 13th have been defined as this and I think Allegorie fit the bill to some extent. It’s mainly in the vocals which are deep and hoarse. The guitars sounds like those bands too at times, whilst in others there are some pretty melodic breaks of instrumental calm.
The songs are kind of messy and don’t always flow. When things do get going though it’s pretty raging stuff though and I really enjoy these parts. There’s moments of this on all the songs and I can definitely see how they would be great live. The instrumental parts kind of feel like filler in comparison, they are nice enough but I’m just waiting for the next moment of intensity. For me this band could be pretty killer if they just went for it throughout. Pretty much all my favourite screamo bands don’t hold back and post-rock screamo just doesn’t cut it for me anymore.
Overall, it’s decent but not amazing. Promising but needs a bit of work.
