The Exelar - The Newburgh Conspiracy - CD (2009)

Cor, whoever knew this lot were still kicking about? Well, evidently they are, and back with nine swift n’ deadly doses of chaotic screamy hardcore to boot. Dunno if it’s my memory playing tricks, but this one sounds somewhat meaner and burlier than that 7″ on Pogonophobia, things still with a spry, spindly backbone but more gravelly and guttural in the vocal department. Each track tears by in fine form, keeping things interesting with scratchy guitar jags, tumbledown drum clatter and scathing political polemic dressed up in that aforementioned beastly roar. Good stuff, and definitely one for folks who think a mix-it-up of ‘Revolution Summer’, ‘The Plot Sickens’ and ‘The End Of Irony’ would make for a perfect half hour’s listening.
