There are ten songs here of what is probably too melodic to be screamo, too screamy to be emo, but probably somewhere near post-hardcore or something like that. I’m relatively new to Dominic but the material I have heard up until this release was okay. This is probably better though. I’m not sure what the general consensus is in terms of similar artists for Dominic but I’d probably liken them to one of the following three: Raein, Daitro or Kaospilot. They’re a bit more accessible than those though I reckon; not “mainstream’ by any means “” just quite linear in their song-writing. This release almost certainly won’t blow your socks off, but is a fairly pleasant listen all the same. Given the number of bands of this ilk doing the screamy/shouty/instrumental sort of thing, Dominic don’t really stand out that much but are probably one of the only bands that are kinda “happy’ (as opposed to glum) musically. This release is definitely a song or two too long though and I’d attribute this largely to the Envy-esque instrumentals that occur. Overall, a bit so-so; not bad but not mind-blowing either.
