Unfortunately, this doesn’t really live up to the hype for me. Granted, its leaps and bounds better than City of Echoes and the track with vocals is an excellent surprise, but I found myself zoning out during some less interesting passages. That said, at times, Pelican hit the same atmosphere as their first two LPs and it is absolutely spot-on. It is a real shame about the segments of filler because this could be something special. Anyone that specifically enjoys this type of music should get on this. It may be a little hit-or-miss but there is no doubt that Pelican and getting back on form. Roll on next release! I’m keeping this one.
