Seem to be a handful of great bands out there at the moment on a blown-out Brainbombs / Rusted Shut tip but this ain’t one of them. “Assfucker” (LOL, etc.) is one longish track of dirging distorto-noise with little motion or variation to be had “” not something bad in itself of course, but it’s done with so little muscle or menace that instead of making you want to punch yourself in the teeth ’til you taste blood you’re left blandly ticking off the minutes until the thing finally draws to an impotent close. Definitely not up there with the Billy Baos or Drunkdrivers of this world, then, and very possibly representing that familiar tipping point where a given sound is neutered by rehash and being brought into common parlance.
