Labels: Lengua Armada

Sophomore outing for N.N. and on it’s first spin it had already cemented itself firmly in my top 10 for 2009. It is an absolute killer blast of vicious, abrasive, yet tuneful punk rock. Featuring as it does, Martin Sorrondeguy of Los Crudos / Limpwrist on vocal duties, I actually think Crudos is a fair comparison. It displays that crunchy ferocity that made them such a cracking band. In addition there’s a great old South American punk feeling to it. Reminding me (although not necessarily sounding exactly like) the magnificent Los Violodores or even Los Invasores. For example the second song Lideres is catchier than all hell, bouncing along on a ridiculously great bassline, and as the needle hits the vinyl it’s begging you to twist that volume control as high as it goes! The fourth song, Abrazos, belts out more of the same and I love it. The first 7″(also on Lengua Armada) was great, but this really grabs the spice weasel and BAM! kicks it up a notch. First time in a long long while that a record grabbed my attention so instantly and I played it again immediately. One of the best records of 2009 without a shadow of a doubt.
