Pretty neat twist on the whole tired post-metal schtick here, keeping things mid-paced, lengthy and growly but owing more to the likes of Knut, Coalesce and Envy than Aaron Turner’s much namedropped troupe of troublemakers. Rather than dither between verses and choruses, each track seems to slither and slope between a series of coiling, interconnected riffs that may or may not recur, meaning the attention never has too much time to wander and even the inevitable post-rock parts will rarely be too ponderous to get in the way of a good crunch or crash. True enough, the cleanly-sung parts might not be to everyone’s taste, but for those still hungry for a gobful of gnarled and inventive post-metal these folks are definitely worth a try.
