First off, the packaging for this is really cool! Musically this reminds me of the Editors in a pretty big way. The music is sort of electronic-y and blippy “chart band’ stuff. I think it’s reasonable to hazard a guess that these guys might break through to the mainstream some day. To be honest I probably won’t notice if they do. While there isn’t anything particularly wrong with this, New From Tape don’t stand out at all and after a (forced) second listen while writing this review, I can’t see me going back to this. It’d be nice if these dudes went back to the drawing board and tried to put something more interesting together as, like so much of the stuff I get sent to review, they seem like competent musicians stuck making unimaginative music.
