Labels: 49s vs Dolphins

This dinky little thing is one of those cute 3″ CDs, haven’t seen one of those in ages. The tiny package is jammed pack of lots of bits that have now spilled out on my desk. The music is hyper, herky jerky post math punk or something. There is enough melody in here to stop the loopy guitar bits from getting out of control, and there are some shouty screamy vocals too. The sobby screamer in particular does some great stuff straight out of the mid to late 90s. It’s a bit like What Price, Wonderland? minus some emo, mixed up with Party of Helicopters, plus something else. It’s not quite as good as that daft comparison would suggest, but for an early demo this is showing signs of a good band in the making. Just three tracks here, but it’s a smart little peephole into the world of a band I was unfamiliar with, but who should appeal to plenty of dorks reading this website. Go and give them a listen if you have a spare couple of minutes, you may be pleasantly surprised.
