Lady Tornado - Da Qualche Parte Tra La Vita A La Morte - 12

Lady Tornado are pretty damn good and I should listen to them more often. The split with The Infarto Scheisse! is essential material for fans of the screamo crossed with power violence genre that 12 Aullidos and Sex Dungeon also occupy. The description for this record calls it a brutal mix of grind and rock’n’roll, so fuck knows what exactly is going on here. All I know is that the picture disc artwork looks slightly scary, containing mutated and skeletal animals holding a pair of scissors, whilst the music is a very good reflection of this.

The band race through five tracks of abrasive hardcore which shreds harshly all over the place, but with plenty of melody – hence the screamo / power violence comparison. The vocals sound like he is coughing up his guts, it’s fantastic. These guys definitely should never record a full length as I don’t think I could take it – in the same way that listening to an entire Gerda record is tough going. However, in small doses Lady Tornado are phenomenal. A few listens has made me very much a fan of this. If they or The Infarto Scheisse! ever make it across here I’ll be the one at the front nodding my head faster than your eyes’ maximum frame rate. Co released by five Italian labels, defintiely worth checking out.
