Post Harbor - They Can't Hurt You If You Don't Believe In Them - CD (2010)

Labels: Burning Building Records
Review by: Joe Callaghan

This is post rock, and don’t you fucking know it. They’ve opened the Post Rock rule book and they’ve checked it twice, and it’s got it all. Soaring delay, clean arpeggios, quiet-to-loud build ups, instrumental. Name your favourite Post Rock characteristic, and I’ll bet my house it’s here. If it isn’t, then you’re not getting my fucking house. I’m just feeling confident.

So if you like Toe or Explosions in the Sky, songs that last a fortnight each, no singing, and layers upon layers of throbbing, warping echoes, then I’d recommend listening to Explosions in the Sky. This is alright too though, if you have the patience of a saint and are happy to sit with your headphones on waiting for something to happen, but knowing full well that nothing ever will. It really doesn’t. I sat through the whole 45 minutes, and I’ve forgotten just about all of it already. But what do I know? I only listen to songs that are exclusively about Skateboarding or Girls. But not Skateboarding Girls.
