Yeah, I am one of those numb nuts who splurged a stupid amount to get hold of an in print record. Damn you Mexican Summer. And Eddy Current, for being so bloody good, mates. Anyway, Eddy Current Suppression Ring bung out three songs here in preperation for their recent LP that’s out on Goner, I might review that, might not, it’s pretty great on the most part, although they fuck up the flow with two really long wanky bits on each side. Anyways, back to this one. Wet Cement is pretty much what you’d expect from ECSR, a grooving, highly repetitious post punker, churning around whilst those killer vocals are enigmatically intoned. Still sounds a bit like Moss Icon crossed with stuff I don’t know anything about. Good track. On the flip we have “Hey Mum” which is very bassy and thumps nicely. Short and sweet. “Through The Trees” doesn’t hang around either, nice and simple stuff that is from 2007 and does sound more like their older stuff. I enjoy the kind of Minutemen feel of this one. This seven isn’t oustanding but it is this: good. If you like ECSR, you probably already bought it, unless you have to do stuff like, I don’t know, eat, or pay rent.
