Midway Still is some band from that pop punk thing of the late 80’s/early 90’s, I guess contemporaries of Mega City 4 / Senseless Things. I suppose it has that sound, but there is a more ‘grungy’ tang, and a sprinkle of the Lemonheads. I’m not sure I like it that much, but I couldn’t say it was rubbish bin material. It’s clearly pretty good, and the songs are well written ,and musically I’m enjoying it, but I’m struggling with the reverby vocals, should it remind me of Alkaline Trio? It does. They are almost a bit ‘gothy’. Yuk. The power ballad made me feel like I was in that shitty grunge film ‘singles’. Honestly that film is fucking dreadful. This record is better. It’s even good, I just don’t like it.
